FAQ

We welcome everyone, wherever you are in life or on your faith journey. Here are some of the most common questions we get asked.

Your Questions Answered

Belonging

Can I really come as I am?

Yes! Jesus welcomed everyone, no matter their background or past (Luke 5:32). At Homecoming Ministries, you are free to come just as you are. You’ll find a warm and accepting community ready to walk alongside you.

Do I need to be religious to come to church?

Not at all. We believe church is a place to explore faith, find hope, and encounter Jesus at your own pace. Whether you’re simply curious or seeking answers, you are welcome here.

Can I come to church if I have made mistakes or feel unworthy?

Absolutely. None of us are perfect. Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary” (Matthew 11:28). Homecoming is a place of grace, where you can experience forgiveness, healing, and fresh purpose.

Are children welcome?
Yes! We believe children are a vital part of the church family. We offer a fun and safe kids ministry for ages 0 to 12, where young hearts are nurtured and taught about God’s love.
Do I have to dress a certain way?
No. We care far more about who you are than what you wear. Come in whatever makes you feel comfortable. God looks at the heart, not outward appearance (1 Samuel 16:7).
Can I attend if I have a different background, culture, or lifestyle?

Yes. Homecoming Ministries reflects the beauty and diversity of God’s Kingdom. We welcome people of all backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life. We believe every person has a unique and valuable place in the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-13).

What does Homecoming believe about LGBTQ+ people?

We believe every person is created in the image of God and is deeply loved (Genesis 1:27; John 3:16). We welcome everyone into a journey of faith led by love, grace, and truth, and we walk together in community as we grow in Christ.

Belief

What if I am not sure what I believe?

That’s perfectly okay. Many of us have had questions and doubts. Homecoming Ministries is a safe place to explore faith, ask big questions, and grow at your own pace.

What does Homecoming believe in?

We believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. We are grounded in the truth of the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and seek to live out the love, grace, and power of Jesus in everything we do.

How can I learn more about faith?

We would love to help you explore faith! You can join The Gatherings, attend one of our courses, participate in our gatherings, or simply have a conversation with any of our pastors or leaders. As the Bible says, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

What is the difference between religion and relationship?

Religion can sometimes feel like a list of rules, but Jesus invites us into a personal relationship with Him. Knowing Jesus is life-giving, freeing, and transformational (John 15:15).

What if I just don’t believe in God?

You are still welcome here. We respect where you are in your journey and will never pressure you. Homecoming Ministries is a place where we journey together, and we believe God meets each person where they are (John 20:24-29).

Bible

Is the Bible still relevant today?

Yes! The Bible speaks into every season of life and every generation. It brings comfort, hope, wisdom, and challenge (Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 119:105).

Why is Jesus so important at Homecoming?

Jesus is at the center of everything we do. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Through Him, we find freedom, restoration, and purpose.

What is the purpose of worship?

Worship is our response to God’s love and goodness. It’s a time to connect with God through music, prayer, and surrendering our lives to Him (Romans 12:1).

How should I start reading the Bible?

We encourage you to start with the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John—to learn about the life and teachings of Jesus. Take your time, reflect, and feel free to ask questions in community. Remember, the Bible is not just a book to study, but a living guide to help you grow in your relationship with God (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Society

Why is there so much crime and brokenness?

We live in a world affected by sin and brokenness (Romans 3:23), but Jesus came to bring hope, healing, and new life (John 10:10). We believe change starts in the heart and spreads through communities.

Is the Netherlands a religious country?

While fewer people may identify with organized religion today, Jesus remains about people, not religion. He continues to transform lives across cultures and generations (Acts 17:27).

Do I have to give money to attend?

No. We are a church for the city and a gift to the community. Giving is something we teach as a personal act of worship and generosity, but it is never expected or required (2 Corinthians 9:7).

What does Homecoming mean?

Homecoming is about returning to where we belong—with God, with purpose, and with peace (Luke 15:20). It’s an invitation to find your true home and identity in Christ.
